Hydrate hydrate hydrate. OK. Do something about flabby arms. GUILTY. ~~Get enough daily sleep.~~ Don’t stay up late. FAIL. Stop eating albumin and its bovine relatives. EPIC FAIL. Think happy thoughts. Really?

A cardiology-neurology crash course in seven weeks, a written test next week, an oral presentation cum certification at the end of the month, training modules to polish in a 5 days and a flurry of activities both at work and at home that are only just beginning as I count down the remaining sembilan belas hari…

It’s 4:30 am, my mind won’t rest and Mercy is nowhere in sight.
Egads, suddenly this whole undertaking of starting a new job and project managing a wedding feels REALLY daunting.

We were in the cab rushing to the printer’s to check the samples and label the packages. I can’t remember what I was talking to Carmen about but somewhere in that moment along Devonshire Road, when my eyes caught the falling leaves framed by beautiful trees through the windscreen… I took a deep breath and knew right there and then, that I’m home.

I don’t know why it took me so long to take myself out of the equation but I know I’m so much happier. In that simple moment, I know all is good.

It was a most lovely evening of great conversations and winsome tableaux; Glee bonding, delicious Louisiana-style BBQ shrimps, a sweet shy cat named Freda, and a beautiful fresh mint leaves steeping in a mug on a green IKEA HAMPEN rug – look closely and you’ll see wisps of steam spelling out J-O-Y… haaa… I awoke today with happy thoughts and made peace with the awful state of mind that shadowed Christmas. The pursuit of happiness continues anew…

At so many junctures on the individual paths that we have each taken to arrive at today, we could have made that decision or been given the opportunity to walk down another road.. and that would have led to an entire different reality. We are at where we are today on our own various terms, convictions and different measures of courage. Yet, the future that we now pledge to build together is hardly one found on our solo efforts alone.

It would be so romantic to say that the series of events and acquaintances has been predetermined but it is so much more meaningful to know that this has been a journey guided and accompanied by many a loving friend; blessed by wonderful families that were quick to love and to embrace a new son, daughter, brother and sister; and made wiser by past relationships and experiences that illuminated, drained, exalted and humbled.

The fifth glass of wine lingers warmly in my veins while these beautiful emo songs make me wish I could warble it out loud… truly I tell you, this is all the reason I need to be eternally grateful and to love you more than I could ever promise.

John suggested a reading marathon on one of these weekends to catch up on the books yet unfinished or unread. We need to finish at least half before the next trip to Kathmandu brings back another backpack-ful of titles. Blissful and missed are the days of doing nothing but sleep, eat and read accompanied by rain showers along the Phewa Tal in Pokhara. I digress, egads… there are four poor books that have been collecting dust since 2007! More to record on recent baking (sans oven) and cooking experiments, music albums on rotation and movies watched, but alas, sleep beckons for tonight…
